It is that time of the year when we should look after our health as the scorching sun can drain us out completely. While we cannot change the weather, we can keep our bodies healthy and cool with some effective foods. From eating the right food to following certain lifestyle changes, Diet plays a crucial role when it comes to dealing with an intense heatwave. Experts and nutritionists suggest that we eat summer fruits and vegetables that instantly cool down our bodies internally.

Watermelon

Watermelon is one of the most effective seasonal summer fruits. It contains 91.45 percent water and thus fulfils our body’s water requirement. Loaded with anti-oxidant properties, it also gives you a wonderful cooling effect.

Avocado

Loaded with a high amount of mono-saturated fatty acid, avocado helps to remove heat and toxins from the blood. This fruit is easily digestible also therefore, your body does not need to create more heat to digest it.

Curd

Curd gives a coolant effect to the body. The best thing about curd is that one can have it in many different variants too. Either make spicy buttermilk or a sweet lassi (you can add honey instead of sugar), it is best suited for summer days.

Coconut water

Coconut water is the best summer drink. Loaded with essential vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients, coconut water on a bright summer day provides you with much-needed relief and gives you a sense of calmness. Packed with electrotypes, it has cooling properties that help you fight against hot weather.

Green Beans

Green beans are surprisingly hydrating and are great for your skin as well due to the presence of antioxidants. They are excellent source of Vitamin K, manganese, fibre and vitamin C.

Bottle gourd

Bottle gourd or lauki is one of the best summer vegetables. It reduces body heat, hydrates your system, and treats digestive ailments like diarrhoea and constipation. They are also incredibly low in calories.

Cucumber

Your body needs fat to function. But it’s important to know what kind of fats are actually good for you (or not). Good fats include monounsaturated & polyunsaturated fats. Bad ones include trans fats. Saturated fats lie somewhere in between.
